She took office as Harvard’s 28th President on July 1, 2007; she is the first woman to serve on this position and the fifth woman to serve as President of an Ivy League university. Previously she had served as founding dean of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. She has been a trustee of Bryn Mawr College, the Andrew Mellon Foundation, and the National Humanities Center, and serves on the educational advisory board of the Guggenheim Foundation. Faust holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Bryn Mawr in History, and a Master’s Degree and doctoral Degree in American civilization from the University of Pennsylvania.
